A traineeship paved the way for Eero to join the KSBR team
A key strength of KSBR lies in its skilled team of professionals, which is often reinforced with fresh talent. One such talent is Eero Tervamäki. According to him, the great atmosphere at KSBR supports their newcomers’ development.
Eero Tervamäki, a 28-year-old from Sievi, worked as a supervisor trainee at KSBR in the summer of 2025. The experience was a rewarding one for both Eero and KSBR, so following that summer, he continued working as he was completing his engineering studies.
– I studied construction at the Lapland University of Applied Sciences in Rovaniemi, where I specialized in infrastructure as a construction and civil engineer. My studies started in the fall of 2022 and ended Christmas 2025. Now all I have left to do is to write my thesis.
Tervamäki has been familiar with KSBR for years. His interest in machines inspired him to study to become an earth-moving machine operator at a vocational school, from which he graduated in 2017. The following year, he began working as an excavator operator at Takanen MR Oy, whose projects often brought him to the same sites as KSBR.
– My degree program included three training periods. I did my first at Takanen, my second elsewhere in the summer of 2023, and my third last summer at KSBR.
An appropriate level of responsibility, with plenty of support
Tervamäki’s supervisor training began in May. His project involved earthworks for the Taanila Business Center to be built in Ylivieska. KSBR is a subcontractor on the project.
– As a supervisor trainee, I checked drivers’ time sheets, monitored work schedules and material consumption, and planned the next stages of work – a big part of the job, he says.
– Based on my previous experience, I already knew that working as a supervisor involves a lot of different tasks. The training went more smoothly than last summer, even though there was plenty of work to do. Of course, there were some challenges along the way – especially since changes to the plan always cause extra work.
Eero thanks KSBR for providing him with excellent support and guidance during his traineeship. He was given an appropriate level of responsibility and always offered advice when he needed some help.
– Support during my training period didn’t just come from a single person in charge. When needed, I got help from Matias Niemi-Korpi, who was working as a second supervisor at the same site, as well as Janne Somero, Ilkka Niskanen, and Teemu Takanen.
Other KSBR personnel also offered him a warm welcome to the team. Eero describes the atmosphere as excellent.
– Overall, my traineeship – which wrapped up in August – was a very positive experience. There was just the right amount of challenge, and I was able to develop my skills alongside the construction site. I learned a lot of new things, which there’s always plenty of in the field of construction. You’re never really finished, but with experience, you’ll keep getting better and better.
KSBR – a quality builder that values its personnel
Eero Tervamäki continues to work at KSBR, saying he values it as a company that builds even the most demanding projects with high quality and efficiency.
– KSBR feels like a very good employer, and a good place to work. Salary payments and other obligations are handled appropriately and correctly. In terms of workload, the construction industry is naturally seasonal – meaning that there are busy periods – but he assures us that people’s well-being is taken care of.
Eero also commends KSBR’s modern construction methods, their equipment versatility, and their widespread use of machine control – not to mention the workplace atmosphere.
– I’ve got experience in earthworks myself, and there’s a strong sense of team spirit. We’re making good progress at the construction site, but the atmosphere is still fairly relaxed. I can warmly recommend this company – even to newcomers in the field.
