KSBR (Keski-Suomen Betonirakenne Oy) and Piipsan Tuulivoima Oy have entered into an agreement for cooperation on the Piipsa wind farm project in Haapavesi. KSBR will carry out the project’s enabling works.

The enabling works include upgrades to the existing road network within the project area, construction of new access roads, and preparation of turbine foundation locations.

– Essentially, we are responsible for the entire pre-construction infrastructure package for the wind farm. We have previously completed similar enabling works contracts, explains Janne Ikonen, project manager at KSBR.

KSBR is Finland’s leading wind power contractor. The company, which is part of the GRK Group, has delivered more than one-third of all wind farm infrastructure built in Finland.

The Piipsa wind farm project comprises 39 wind turbines with a maximum overall height of 300 metres.

– The commencement of enabling works is an important step towards the realization of the Piipsa wind farm. The decision reflects the owners’ commitment to strengthening domestic electricity generation and responding to the growing demand for clean electricity, says Tuomas Ylimaula, managing director of Piipsan Tuulivoima and Puhuri.

Works to commence during the autumn

The project area is located in the eastern part of the city of Haapavesi and extends to the municipal boundaries of Kärsämäki and Siikalatva.

Works on site will begin with vegetation and tree clearance in the coming weeks.

The project is being developed by Piipsan Tuulivoima Oy. The company is a sister company of Puhuri Oy, and the practical responsibilities related to project development and construction management are handled by Puhuri personnel.

Puhuri Oy is an energy company based in Haapavesi that produces clean, renewable energy for its owners. The company is owned by 27 Finnish energy companies and currently focuses on the development, construction and operation of wind and solar power projects.

– This project is important for KSBR as it is our first with Puhuri. We have been discussing the project for a long time, and we are pleased to be working with such a knowledgeable and professional partner, concludes Janne Ikonen.
