KSBR to build battery energy storage facility in Kauhava

KSBR Oy and British firm Nala Renewables have signed an agreement to build a 50 MW/100 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Kauhava.

“KSBR is Finland’s leading wind power builder, and we’ve previously supplied substations and electrical grids in addition to wind farms. It’s a natural step to expand our service offering to battery storage. We’re proud to support Nala Renewables’ growth as it launches its battery energy storage project in Finland,” says KSBR’s Energy and Civil Construction Director Janne Kananen

“Energy storage technologies will become increasingly important in the future because they’ll ensure the availability and meet demand for electricity alongside renewable energy production, like wind and solar power. They’re critical for stabilizing Finland’s electrical grid,” states KSBR’s Electrical Business Operations Director Jyrki Riekki

In addition to the battery energy storage facility, KSBR’s agreement includes the electrical grid connection, an electrical substation, and earthworks and electrical work for the energy storage area.

Sungrow Europe will act as supplier for Kauhava’s BESS project.

Nala Renewables is a global energy and renewable energy developer – and independent electricity producer – focused on solar, wind, and battery storage projects in Europe, Latin America, and the United States.

Nala Renewables has granted initial permission for the battery energy storage project, and KSBR began earthworks at the Kauhava site in October.
