KSBR to deliver concrete frame structures for Turku LogoHub

KSBR (Keski-Suomen Betonirakenne Oy) is constructing the cast-in-place frame for the LogoHub station and parking facility in Turku. The agreement with the main contractor, Lapti Oy, also includes the project’s structural design as a comprehensive product delivery.

The five-story LogoHub covers 15,300 square meters and will provide 393 parking spaces. The station and parking services are designed to serve more than 2.4 million customers annually.

Engineered to withstand railway vibrations

For this logistically demanding site, an in-situ concrete structure was chosen. Cast directly into molds on-site, this method creates a uniform, seamless structure capable of withstanding both railway yard vibrations and the heavy loads of high-volume station traffic.

– This solution is cost-effective and performs well in a confined construction environment. In-situ casting also provides essential flexibility for the driveways, which are typically challenging to implement, explains Henry Nyman, site manager at KSBR.

The proximity of the railway line and Turku’s characteristic clay soil present unique construction challenges. Consequently, the building’s piling and load-bearing capacity have been addressed with particular care during the design phase.

Frame assembly to begin in March

In February 2026, KSBR’s scope of work includes foundation work and the installation of elements for the main stairwell. Currently, the columns and foundation walls for the first floor are nearing completion.

The next phase involves constructing the in-situ concrete shaft for stairwell B.

– The shaft will be cast in situ to provide the necessary lateral stiffness for the frame. We expect to start raising the frame in mid-March, says Henry Nyman, outlining the upcoming stages.

KSBR’s work on the station and parking building is scheduled for completion in October 2026. This new landmark for the Turku railway yard will be fully completed in the spring of 2027.
