Frame of new building at the Academy of Fine Arts, Lujatalo

KSBR carried out the framing work for the new building at the Academy of Fine Arts for Lujatalo Oy. The new building is located on Kaikukatu in Sörnäinen, Helsinki, and serves as a space for teaching visual arts, theatre and dance – and a meeting place. 

The designer of the building is JKMM Architects Ltd. The structural work was completed ahead of schedule at the end of June 2020. 

In spring 2022, the Academy of Arts’ new building received the 2021 Concrete Structure of the Year Award. The judges praised the building for, among other things, its durability and adaptability as an ordinary concrete building. According to the judges’ panel, the building is of architectural and historical value in terms of its urban design and is an example of sustainable concrete construction.
